goldie the wild boar eat some nuts. Well, ther is a highway nearby and a lot of pedestrians with bikes and dogs and so on. Should repeat this on a sunday morning to get a clear sound of goldie. Recorded with a zomm h2 on 90degree, 2 meters away from goldie. . . I lowered the peaks to get a better normalization of the whole atmosphere. Goldie lives in the alluvial forrest in leipzig, mostly seperated.

A 24bit 29khz stereo recording of quite a rowdy sheep herd in a field. Has some very faint wind noise, but if used as ambiance it would not be noticeable. Nestling in the crowns of pine trees in various parks across the eu capital, they add a subtropical flavor to brussels' diverse soundscape. Just as most of the city's inhabitants, the ring-necked, alexandrine and quaker parrots came from a different place. Having escaped a zoo exhibit many years ago, they've been eking out a living, adapting to the tempered climate and found themselves a new home. As urban animals they contribute to brussels' exceptional cosmopolitan vibe. (recorded in the park of forest).

I tried to originally make the sound of a train speeding up in an 8-bit style, but it sounded more like the sound guardian scouts make in "the legend of zelda: breath of the wild" when they charge up their laser, so i renamed the sound. A grey squirrel at the edge of a wood seemed quite upset and repeated called for about 5 minutes. I recorded the end of its calling. It is also my first attempt at recording sound with my camera (canon eos 550d). There turned out to be a fan noise with a slight clicking. I ran noise reduction in audacity to remove it and to help reduce the sound of traffic.

Sound description: hundreds of crows squawking on a breezy afternoon. In nature you have a "gaggle" of geese or a "pod" of whales, but a "flock" of birds, if they happen to be crows is actually called "a murder of crows". An appropriate name if you happen to be standing underneath hundreds of them in the trees. They emit a murderous ;) squawk and screech for hours. This was a digital audio recording, done at 48 mhz at a group of trees a mile from a country freeway. You can still hear the ambient sounds of the distant cars.

These sounds were recorded in a dumpster for a sound installation project. The ease at which members of our society buy and dispose of our goods is quite disgusting, much more than the experience of rescuing useful things from the trash. The idea of making things to be thrown makes no sense unless money is the highest form of good. Companies make things to be disposable so they can sell more, with no thought of what will happen when we have used up too much, or the environment becomes so polluted that it can no longer support human life. Dumpster diving has many negative connotations, but recently it appears to have been embraced by freegans and those who are environmentally minded. The act saves things from thousands of years of preservation in a landfill, while decreasing production. I often try to forage for useful items and food in the wild, while dumpster diving is more like urban foraging; an experience that reveals the culture of the city, rather than the culture of the nature. The sad fact is that what i leave in the wild is used and recycled naturally, while what i leave in a dumpster is sealed in a time capsule that will outlast present successes and show future generations how we have failed, should future generations come.

A recording of, to me at least, is the symbolic sound of the later summer woods, when the blue jays become more vocal. These beautiful birds stay here in southern illinois all year long, and are a welcome flash of color and blue crest once autumn begins arriving. Now, i have always thought this call of the blue jay is not the prettiest or melodic at all; in fact, hearing the call of a blue jay can be a bit unnerving. . . But, to me, it is symbolic of the " wild " ness of nature. . . One of my most melancholy nature sound. . . I don't often go for fast food, but my bf thinks it's great. So; the counter girl looks exceedingly odd, as in pink hair, hook nose, wild eyes, no boobs, etc, and he orders what he wants with something at least close to this sound. She smiles and nods. He claims he got what he wanted. . . A big mac, no pickle. I asked him to repeat his order for my recorder. Three times. He did. All three were identical. It's possible he knew her and it's an inside joke. Or, maybe what he got was the default when they can't understand you. He is a linguist, which does not prove he spoke a real language. He also looks a little strange which does not add up to proof he's a venusian. That's what he said it was, and i couldn't stop laughing. It does prove he's entertaining, and he's pretty weird.
